Signal IV
I didn't intend for this week's blog post to be an update.
I'm working on a pair of posts about alien abduction and mental health but they aren't quite where I want them to be at the moment. I really don't wanna miss my schedule this week, and I figure it's been a while since I've posted a general update, so here we are.
Since I've last made a Signal post, a lot has happened!
Obviously, if you read my last one, we had our first public event back in November. Just prior to that, we were scheduled to have a photo shoot to help promote it (and my series Signal & Noise — more on the show in a second), but we had a couple members who couldn't show at the last second. The photo above is the only taken (a test shot) during said shoot.
Since the public event, I've had a pretty good uptick in visitors to the site and I've been considering different ways in which I can engage with our growing audience. I've had a lot of different ideas.
First and foremost, given the general success that was our event, I'm planning another. I haven't yet settled on a day, but I've got some fun ideas! This time, though, instead of following something like “here's all our research” lecture-y kind of thing, I'm thinking we'll do something more involved. After all, the most fun part of our event in November was, hands down, the Estes session at the end. I'm thinking maybe something like a PK party? I want to make it different, though, and how exactly I'm planning on doing that hasn't really been determined just yet (I have an idea, but, as always, it's weird).
I was posting on TikTok rather regularly for a while but, given the apparent incoming ban, any further time spent on that platform seems like a waste of time and energy to me. Besides, I have issues keeping with the pace that kind of format demands of its content creators. If TikTok weren't going away, I'd be planning a Livestream on it. In lieu of that, I guess we'll try YouTube one of these days. I'll figure out how lives work there, fiddle around with it a bit, and I'll come back with more details soon.
Another thing on my mind is how I can best keep you guys up to date on things. Some variation of, “how can I stay on top of local paranormal stuff,” is something I'm asked quite a bit through my contact form. In the very near future I'm going to be starting a mailing list (perhaps hosted on patreon—don’t worry, it'll be free for the foreseeable future) with very easy to digest schedules and all sorts of other things. As GHPR, HSVPARA, Signal & Noise, and my less tangible future projects all grow and change what I have to offer you all will continue to expand. The mailing list will make staying on top of everything much more manageable. Expect a launch announcement soon.
Production on Signal & Noise chugs along as always. We've been on something of a break from filming but it's set to pick up again soon (we're gonna be filming on site in a rather remote location on 2/1 this year). By the time we get there, I'll have better lighting, a ridiculously good external mic, and a couple extra cool gadgets that are going to produce an immediately noticeable upgrade in our ability to capture these encounters as they happen. I also intend to, on 2/1 (as long as we have the signal to maintain our connection), host our first on location Livestream so make sure you don't miss it! When we get closer to the day I'll make a post about with everything you'll need to know to join in.
We're gonna be filming more for another episode soon, though that one isn't going to be filmed (like most of our other stuff) in a single day. I've asked before, I'll ask again: if you've had an encounter at Dead Children's Playground, if you know someone who has and you can share their story, if you have some story you want to share about why it's supposedly haunted, or have anything at all to say about that location, please reach out via the contact form. I'd love to have that be a part of our show.
Well, I think that's about all I have to share for now. Keep an eye out here and on our socials for those dates and announcements I mentioned above. I'm so excited to share the stuff we've been working on!
Stay weird!
